A saree is the other name of glamour and ethnicity. Handloom saris are available in cotton, silk, crepe, chiffon, georgette and satin with beautiful work engraved on it. From fine embroidery to bold prints and zari or brocade work, saris are designed for graceful look. The most famous sarees of south India, the Kanjeevaram sarees are made in the temple town Kanchipuram of Tamil Nadu. This town is also known as ‘Silk City’ due to its main profession of weaving silk sarees. The traditional kanjivaram sarees have a richly worked upon pallu and border in golden thread with lighter designs in the inner body of the saree. Chandelier is a historical town of Madhya Pradesh state in India. It is a renowned center for the famous hand-woven Chanderi sarees. The light weight Chanderi sari has a sheer texture and glossy transparency. These cotton sarees are best as summer wear.

Baluchari Sarees
This saree from Murshidabad district of West Bengal is usually a five yards saree and is 42” wide in bright colors like flame red, purple and occasionally in deep blue. These sarees are made of silk and woven on looms. These are about 200 year old. The sarees look similar to Banarasi sarees. There is only one difference between the two sarees, Baluchari sarees use only silk threads and Banarasi sarees do use zari threads.
